This picture was made in 2009, an early morning, just before the sun rose over the mountains, during my trek from Ollantaytambo to Lares. This region mist is often seen, while it lies near the jungle. From here you can go down into the jungle, but it is here still 3000m+. This is still high up in the mountains, and the conditions are harsh and the people are very poor, as you can see from these houses. Families live here together without much privacy for the individual members.
