STORY: Around Ausangate

18 of 31: The Cottage

This is the cottage. It is the remains of parts of a hacienda that once existed further down the mountain. The building itself is most primitive, without any of the modern facilities, like windows and water. It gives shelter in case of bad weather, and our cook preferred  it abouve his cooking tent, and we used it as a refectory. All slept outside in tents in the cold. But all these contras make it a beautiful place with a lot of  ambiance, which adds to the experience. The woman in the picture is dressed in typical Q’eros outfit. Ausangate is not in Q’eros Nation, but the mountain is important as an Apu in their world view.
