Some pictures remind me of a poem by Jacqueline van der Waals, which holds the lines: ‘If golden the portals, how then the inner chambers?’ For her this referred to a vision of heaven. For me these pictures show something of an ideal, but it is here on this earth, unearthed in Lightroom. What we normally see as something dull, not attractive in any way, shows qualities of form and colour that are not of this earth, so to speak.
