Title: From Q’iqo to Q’ollur Riti
There is a very special trek from Q’iqo to Q’ollur Riti, that is almost only done by the indigenous Q’eros people. The meaning of Q’ollur Riti is the Snow Star, Venus. Q’ollur Riti has a very famous religious festival high up in the mountains. In a weekend in June, depending on the Moon calendar, thousands of people gather to celebrate this Festival. I visited the place three times, and on one occasion during the festival. The trek is three days of walking in the Huaman Lipa mountain range, and it is a stiff walk. But now and then our feet were massaged, so to speak by the flute of our shaman, encouraging us to keep on going.
