The meat of lamas and alpacas is on the indigenous menu, but most of the time only by accident. Here, high on the slopes to the Palomino pass sits a woman waiting for a relative to carry down the meat of an animal that she has just butchered. The animal was found that morning, killed by a puma, that eats only small parts of it, leaving the rest to the next finder, sometimes a condor, but most of the time the owner of the animal. If butchered in time the meat is good enough for human consumption.<\/p>\n<\/div>
