Near the cottage are herds of lamas and alpacas. Both are cameloids. The lama was formerly used for transport, but as it can take on only about 20 kilos, nowadays horses and mules are used for transport most of the time. Alpaca’s are used for their wool. Alpaca wool is very soft and warm. The meat of these animals is standard on the menu of the people in the mountains. The animals can feed on little or almost nothing. The vegetation at this altitude is sparse, not for sheep or cows. There seems water in the picture here, but it is ice, the ground is fstill rozen early in the day.<\/p>\n<\/div>
